Pruning

Pruning is an excellent and necessary investment in your property. Our ability to climb into the canopy using ropes allows us to not only reach every section of a tree, but also to perform inspections that are impossible to do or see from the ground.

Proper pruning ensures structural integrity, enhances and promotes longterm health, allows trees to correctly 'compartmentalize' broken, diseased or storm damaged branches, increases safety for people/structures and mitigates the risk of failure before it occurs.

A full prune typically addresses structure clearance, dead or broken branch removal, cutting limbs that are crossing/rubbing, canopy inspection, mitigation of elongated branches under high tension and end-weight reduction to counter the snow and ice Maine receives in the winter.

By managing trees early on, we can increase the success of our landscape, avoid costly problems down the road, and even increase our homes value. Not to mention keeping your property beautiful and aesthetically pleasing!

We love trees and removing them isn't our favorite part of the job. However, trees (especially in urban environments) need increased management to coexist with humans and structures. Like us, they have a finite lifespan, and when failure is imminent the best course of action is to remove them.

Trees sometimes grow a little too close for comfort, and when they do, they will need to be taken down safely and methodically.

Whether it's a structural defect, an ominous lean towards your house, weak or compromised attachments, diseased, or uprooted from a storm, Tweedie Tree Care has the experience and expertise to address and facilitate the difficult tree's start to finish.

Tree removal is dangerous! Using advanced rigging and rope work, the technical removals are a puzzle best left to the professionals. Let us take the liability off of your shoulders and into the hands of fully insured arborists.

We all need a little support now and then! It's common for trees to need our help. A qualified Arborist will have an eye for knowing when and where these focal points of support will be in the tree. With a focus on mitigation and preservation, cabling/bracing can alleviate stress on weak or compromised branch/trunk attachments. This is usually performed in tandem with weight reductions to the "leader" that is being cabled to further address load concerns. Even if a trunk "lead" doesn't look heavy, in Maine we have to account for leaf weight in the spring and snow/ice weight in the winter, not to mention severe storms in any season!

The cabling systems that we integrate into our management plans are non-invasive (no drilling into the tree) and adjustable so that they can be manually lengthened over time as the tree grows with it. Other stabilizing techniques like staking and guying are implemented mostly on juvenile, newly planted trees or leaning trees and are tailored depending on growing conditions.

With extensive knowledge on growth structures of tree's and possessing a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification, Tweedie Tree Care can address your risk concerns with strategic and scientifically backed insight.

Native Tree
Planting

Tweedie Tree Care offers native tree planting. We source quality trees from trusted local nurseries that can effectively enhance the beauty of your landscape. Planting in Maine is best done in late summer to early fall, although spring is also achievable as long as the freezing temps have subsided. This allows for young trees to have an extra establishment period for their root systems before going dormant in winter.

Working in conjunction with your landscape goals, we can help you determine which trees will be optimal for your property based on things like soil characteristics, shade and sun tolerance, expected height/width spans, all the way to vibrant ornamentals if your looking to attract birds and pollinators.
